Summer; how i miss you

Just having a look through the Rowing Clubs page on Facebook Kilmacabea-Rowing-Club/facebook and came across a write up of The Championship Final in glandore and said id share it with those who care.
The write up was done by Mr Joseph O'Callaghan.

Also competing were the U18 men who gave the competition a run for their money in this highly aggressive race, pushing their rivals right to the finish line. But it was the U16s who provided a master-class in how to win a race as they were pushed all the way yet always looking comfortable on the water as they stormed down the home straight to victory.

U16:  Jack Tobin, Alex Nowotynski, Pat Calnan, Euan Tobin.

Downhill / Motocross Winter

Just a few pics of this winter Mountain biking / Motocross so far,  Above, me on my Santacruz v10 throwing a few Chain-less whips in Dunmanway's Motorway section.

Above  is My first experience of a Motocross Enduro, the Enduro Kildorrery H&H in which i raced Club-man 2 and Rode my way through 14 Laps of torture on a Borrowed 250cc 2stroke Yamaha YZ. I rode out 2Hr's  of the race before i  had to call it a day for my own safety (half an hour before finish) I will be Racing Enduro / Motocross much more frequently in the new year on a 125cc.

Just another Pic from a day in Dunmanway, getting a bit of a boost of the not so big kicker.

Next time dont forget the Vaseline

Just after lunch time today Myself, Donn and Ken OD headed off on what started out on a nice trail run up into the mountains by Crosshaven "we'll be back just outside the hour". Quite quickly things became interesting as the fog set upon us once we got off the first 3km road of our run, as we ascended the hill visibility became catastrophic.
Soon Donn began taking bearings and that's when it really got interesting as we had no features and 0 visibility. After running for approx 1Km the wrong way we back tracked and came down what could only be described as an amazing farm track down into a valley where we then realized we were on the wrong side of the Mountain, as light began to fade the chaffing set itself upon poor Kens (Area) and with 10km of road to get us back to the van, i doubt he was to happy. However he soldiered on and after what could only be described as an Interesting and Varied trail run we made it back 3:30mins later.

Training gets underway

So over the last few weeks the winter training has properly been getting underway and today was the first blood-shed of it so i know things are going well.
Donncha O'Brien (here on the left)  has kindly taken me under his wing for the winter and is working with me through main aspects of increasing fitness, we have similar ideas of what life really is about (enjoying yourself) and through that we have a good tolerance of one another.and i know he is capable of pshyically pushing me to my goals.
Last week we went road biking off into the mountains where i was sure we were lost (we werent, im alive, its all good) and today we took off yet again into some more mountains for an 80min trail run, it was my first proper off road run and my god it was good, i mean to be running in just shorts and runners in mid november? how could you complain. Training with Donncha will continue throughout the winter and will be blogged.
